Denmark Day 6: Copenhagen and Home :(

The last day of our trip had arrived :(…Michael and Ann came over in the morning with pastries for Breakfast MMMMM…then we went to the main Copenhagen Shopping street…we are not big shopping people, but we walked around and bought some small things…then it was back to the B&B…we took our things from the B&B (at 12:05…we were supposed to leave by 12:00..oops…but no worries), had a French Hot Dog, and then me and mum said our good byes to Ann and Michael and left to the airport. At the airport, mum checked in and made her way to security. My plane was leaving around 2hours after mum’s, so I then checked in and made my way through security. My gate was not yet called, so I made my way to mum’s gate, went around the shops a bit, then when mum started boarding I left to find a place where I could sit and read, till my gate was called.

 

2 Plane rides after (Copenhagen-Munich, Munich-Malta), and I arrived in Malta. Bernard was there to pick me up (WEEEEE), and off home we went. We then went for a short walk to the Zurrieq festa then SLEEP!

Denmark Day 5: Copenhagen

Day 5 dawned and Copenhagen it was again…weeeee. It was another beautiful day (we had a happy Michael again…and we did not complain at all). We walked around, visited the round tower (including climbing up to the top) and the Museum of the Resistance. Unfortunately we only had around 20mins to see the Museum of the Resistance…however it is really good…I managed to see the first room really well, then sprinted through the rest. Would love to go back there again.

Then we went to see the changing of the guard, which was followed by a visit to Rosenborg Castle. The last is one of the least worth things to do in Copenhagen…it costs 75kr (around 10Euro) to go into the palace, and walk around. There is barely any explanation (you get an A4 sheet with just 1 sentence on each room…the exhibits have no explanations)…so a nice place…but certainly not worth it…considering the other options you can take on in Copenhagen.

After Rosenborg Castle we went to the Museum of Copenhagen…since it was a Friday entrance was free…WIPPIE!!…however the approx 2.5Eur entrance free would still be worth the visit I think. There is not much to see. But everything is well explained and it is interesting to see the way Copenhagen developed. After the Museum, we had something to drink opposite, where I had my first taste of Hyldeblomst…and elderberry drink…MMMMMMMM…it was really good. After this stop, Michael made his way to an IT meeting thingy he had whilst Ann, Mum and myself made our way to Tivoli Garden. We walked around, but did not really know what to do with ourselves. So we stopped to have something to eat (dinner) and then went to watch the show…Carmen…it was a sort of ballet thingy. At this point Michael came over…and he was APPALLED that we had not done anything…but there was too much to do and we did not know what…so he took us round again (WEEEE), we played a game, and saw the below…this pic is for you bee 😀

We then went to have a coffee (Hyldeblomst for me weee) and then went to the Friday Rock Concert…Big Fat Snake were playing…Michael said they are very famous in Denmark, although I had never heard of them :S…but he said they are a sort of the Danish Bon Jovi…and I totally agree. From their name I was expecting a hard rock band or something…but they were really really good…what’s more…they sang in English and you could actually understand each word…I really like these guys…even mum enjoyed them…bdw I think the lead singer looks like David Hassellhof hihi. This is one of their more famous songs…it is an old video…but quite good.

After Big Fat Snake we watched the night light show over the pond, and then off home to sleep…Another Day was Over 😦

Denmark Day 4: Copenhagen

Have now been back in Malta for a day…so it is high time I blog about the last part of our Denmark Trip. At the end of Day 3 we made our way to Copenhagen. We arrived late at night, and made our way to our Bed and Breakfast. Michael and Ann helped us settle in (mainly helped with communication with the host) and they left to Michael’s friend with whom they were staying. The B&B was located in a very central location, such that we walked to most places…so no complaints there. The room was very big and comforatble…although it could use with a decor update. But who am I to complain!

Thursday dawned our first day in Copenhagen. We were excited to see the sights. However the weather was not that good…hmpfff…We had a grumpy Michael and made our way to the National Museum of Denmark. We visited the prehistoric display and then made our way to the Guided tour in English of ‘Who are the Danes – from absolute monarchs to the modern welfare state’. This museum is really worth visiting…it is fully explained (also in English wippiee), and the tour really gives a good alternative way to see the museum. After the tour we planned to keep going around the place..to see the other exhibits. However as soon as we entered the foyer we saw that the sun was shining. Michael suddenly brightened up and we decided to leave the museum to enjoy Copenhagen in the sun. We went to eat a Danish hotdog and then went on a Canal tour.

At the end of the trip, I think we all agreed that this Canal Tour is the most worth it thing to do on a nice day in Copenhagen. It costs around 4Euros, and you have an hour of going through the Copenhagen Canals with a tour guide. We were all very sceptical about doing this (except MIchael who had gone on before), but it was really worth it. Especially with the sun shining.

After the canal tour we walked over to Christiania, which is a sort of large commune. There are some seedy characters around…but they do not bother you and it is a truly beautiful place.  

We then caught the metro back to Fredericksberg where we went to the park. Michael then left to meet up with his friend at whose place Ann and Michael were staying to cook dinner, since we were all invited over that night. Ann, mum and myself just sat on the grass and rested for about 1.5hours (the time flew by) and then made our way to Mikkel’s place. We watched some TV and surfed the net whilst they cooked. Dinner was Mouthwatering…first plate was a beef carpaccio with pine nuts, parmesan cheese and a bed of rocket. This was followed by Spicy chicken with Garam Masala Rice mmmmmmmmmm.

After dinner…and LOTS of chatting, we then went on to Mikkel’s favourite part I am sure. He had been telling us about it all night…SING STAR! We competed against each other. Some were surprisingly good. But I can honestly say that the worst one that came out was Michael and my rendition of Virtual insanity by Jamiroquai. AAAAAAAAAAA! But it was pretty good fun. Mum and myself then made our way to our B&B whilst Michael, Ann and Mikkel kept on singing the night away I have been told.
